How and when was Woolpit Nurseries established?

Woolpit Nurseries business was set up in 1978, Bob and Pam choose Suffolk as their home to raise their 4 children. Bob a specialist for ADAS in tomatoes, bought the nursery to grow tomatoes commercially.

In 1993 they started concentrating on growing bedding plants selling direct to the public. Their son in law Andrew joined the business in 2002, and 2 years later Catherine (Andrew’s wife) also joined.

It has increased in production producing over 250,000 seasonal bedding plants and growing over 2,500 hanging baskets every year for the general public, businesses and local authorities. We have helped Bury St Edmunds win numerous ‘In Bloom‘ awards including Gold in Anglia in Bloom also Sudbury, Stowmarket and Newmarket.

Which family members are involved?

Bob and Pam still have active roles to play in the business and help out at peak times. Andrew and Catherine run the business now and Helena, Bob and Pam’s eldest daughter, works and helps with social media and marketing.

How will Woolpit Nurseries business look in the future?

In the last 5 years, Andrew and Catherine have driven the business forward to be one of the few remaining grower nurseries in Suffolk and proudly grow more than 90% of the plant stock they sell on site. With 2 daughters and a fantastic core team of Charlotte, Rachel, Tracy, Shane and Helena there is no reason why the business won’t keep driving forward – always with our main focus on quality and value for money.
