Creating a hedge for your garden is an exciting project that will add beauty and character to your outdoor space. When making this important decision, be sure to choose the type of hedge shrubs that best fits with both your lifestyle and local conditions – evergreen or deciduous? Formal or informal? Then take into account factors such as space, soil condition, height requirements and maintenance needed each year after it’s established!

Here’s a few tips on how to choose the perfect plants for your hedge:

Evergreen hedge or deciduous?

Evergreen hedging: If you’re looking for a bit of privacy and shelter all year round, planting an evergreen hedge with Portuguese laurel or Yew is certainly the way to go! Sure, conifers are popular options that provide lush greenery but don’t forget – they require some extra maintenance. Prune them twice a year to keep your hedges in tip-top shape; yew being the exception since it’s easier to restore if neglected or overgrown.

Deciduous hedging: Hedges of deciduous plants can make a beautiful and distinct statement in the winter months.
