Turn your outdoor space into your own personal paradise with the help of Woolpit Nurseries
With the weather finally brightening up and summer just around the corner, we can all look forward to spending a little more time outdoors. If your garden is in need of some sprucing up after the winter months, now is the ideal time to give your outdoor space a little TLC. Along with carrying out some basic garden maintenance and giving your lawn a well-needed trim, you can help to breathe some life back into your garden with some colourful new additions – think bright perennials and eye-catching hanging baskets.
Run by the same family since 1978, Woolpit Nurseries is the perfect place to indulge in a spot of garden plant shopping. With over an acre of growing greenhouses and half an acre of outside growing space, Woolpit Nurseries is proud to grow more than 95% of its plant life onsite, and is one of the few remaining grower nurseries in the county.
Each spring, the experienced team grows around 250,000 seasonal bedding plants from their seeds, diligently tending to each and every plant and nurturing them as they grow. The attention that the team pours into each plant is reflected in the finished product, with this on-site growing process consistently producing quality, healthy plants. The team is committed to using professional composts and strives to create the very best growing environment for their seedlings, ensuring that each plant thrives.
Whether you’re looking to add a splash of colour to your outdoor space, or opting for some shades of green with a vibrant shrub, Woolpit Nurseries has something to suit every garden. Husband-and-wife team Andrew and Catherine Brain are happy to lend their expert knowledge to anyone visiting the nursery, offering useful advice on how to care for your new plants once you have brought them home. Andrew and Catherine took over the running of the business over 15 years ago from Catherine’s parents, and are proud to carry the Woolpit legacy on in 2019 and beyond.
Seasonal bedding plants are a fantastic way to add some colour to your garden. From beautiful begonias to eye-catching hollyhocks, Woolpit Nurseries offers an extensive range of bedding plants, alongside pre-planted hanging baskets and containers for a no-fuss ‘instant garden’.
Last year, the team grew over 9,500 bedding geraniums in a stunning array of colours, and this year’s offerings promise to be just as bountiful. The team has put together 1,000 ready-planted hanging baskets – perfect for anyone looking to add a real feature to their garden this summer.
Along with beautifying gardens across the county, Woolpit Nurseries also helps to bring some colour to the streets of Suffolk and East Anglia, supplying councils across the region with pretty hanging baskets to brighten up our public spaces.
Last year, the family-run business supplied Bury St Edmunds with 600 beautifully designed baskets, helping the town to scoop gold awards in both the Anglia in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions.
The business has also provided the towns of Newmarket, Haverhill and Stowmarket with a range of stunning floral ‘In Bloom’ displays and baskets.
